It’s survey time, Boise! The 2024 Boise Schools Youth Well-being Survey is being administered to middle and high school students* during the last week of October and early November.
The following Boise schools are offering this year's survey:
Boise School District Middle Schools
Boise School District High Schools
Anser Charter School
Bishop Kelly High School
One Stone
*As a reminder only students that have documented parental/guardian consent are eligible to provide their assent to take the survey.
The Youth Well-being Survey measures the strengths and challenges experienced by local youth. Collecting survey responses/youth data enables the community (including schools, non-profits, healthcare providers, parents and others) to better understand the local youth experience and to make informed decisions on how to best support youth. Collecting youth data and sharing it back with communities is a key component of the Communities for Youth process.
What Happens After Young People Take the Survey?
After all the surveys within a school district have been administered, Communities for Youth compiles and analyzes the data and creates a Data Summary Report for each district. To ensure we protect the privacy of individual young people, results are always presented in aggregate (which just means overall) or at the group level, and no individual data is ever shared.
Key data points are then shared with the broader community using a strategy Communities for Youth calls "Community Data Walks". Community Data Walks provide opportunities for parents, grandparents, community leaders, and other concerned community members to better understand what areas youth are doing well in and which they need more support.
The Boise Initiative will be hosting a series of data-walks by quadrant for Boise middle and high schools and by school for private and charter schools in late 2024 and early 2025. You can stay informed on upcoming events by signing up for the Boise newsletter on the main Boise Initiative page.
