This fall, Communities for Youth has partnered with the cities of Meridian, Eagle, and Star, and the West Ada School District, to provide opportunities for parents, educators, local leaders, and concerned community members to share their thoughts about the mental health and well-being needs of local young people.
Communities for Youth offers facilitated listening sessions to communities in the beginning stages of moving their youth well-being efforts "upstream". Listening sessions involve Communities for Youth providing a brief overview of youth well-being in Idaho and facilitating small group discussions with community members. Community Listening Sessions help inform the development next steps for better supporting young people.
If you are a parent or other community member and haven't had the chance to engage in a listening session yet, the City of Meridian and Mayor Simison plan to host additional listening sessions this winter. Communities for Youth and the City will send updates as they become available.
If you represent an organization or other entity (e.g., school, faith community) in Meridian, Eagle, Star, or West Boise and are interested in arranging a listening session with adults who would like to do more to support local young people please contact Communities for Youth Community Engagement Coordinator Andrea Hill (andreahill565@boisestate.edu).
Entities outside of these locations interested in hosting Community Listening Sessions should contact communities4youth@gmail.com
