Last week the Communities for Youth Boise Initiative hosted their first Citywide Coalition meeting of 2025. Meeting highlights are below!
Staffing Announcement
One of the key pieces of info from the January meeting was that Central District Health (CDH) will be moving into the “Community Lead” role for the C4Y Boise Initiative.* CDH Project Coordinator Heather Allan will be the lead staff and will work with Communities for Youth’s Community Engagement Coordinator Andrea Hill and partners to implement upstream prevention in Boise.
*Special thanks to the St. Luke’s Community Health and Engagement staff, particularly Angie Gribble and Sara Hegerle for serving in this role until a more permanent organizational lead was identified in CDH!
Citywide Data Walk
Meeting attendees also participated in a Data Walk that reviewed all of the Boise data for 2024. Data for all Boise schools (public, private, and charter) that participated in the 2024 Youth Well-being Survey was shared along with deeper dives into the risk and protective factor and Boise focus area of youth social connection.
There are also four upcoming opportunities for “Quad-level” Data Walks for Boise Schools. RSVP and let us know you'll be joining us.
New Directions for the Boise Initiative
Another key update was that there will be a slightly different structure for the Boise Initiative moving forward. To better accommodate the scheduling needs of organizational partners like schools, nonprofits, city agencies, as well as the needs of community members, Boise will be piloting both Citywide Strategic Action Teams and Quad-level Strategic Action Teams this year.
The overall citywide coalition will continue to meet monthly and all are welcome to attend.
At the upcoming February 12th (Hillcrest Library) and March 12th (Library @ Collister) meetings, coalition members will be taking even deeper dives into the youth survey data, and will strategize specific goals and actions coalition members can take to increase youth social connection. By April, Strategic Action Teams will form and take accountability for ensuring actions are taken to support our young people. Please email HAllan@cdh.idaho.gov for calendar invitations and reminders on the Citywide Coalition Meetings. Individuals/organizations interested in attending upcoming Quad-level Meetings should contact Andrea Hill (andreahill565@boisestate.edu).
To help ensure the coalition is progressing in it's goals, both organizational and individual level partners are asked to officially sign on as a partner.
Additional updates will be posted as they become available. For additional information on the C4Y Boise Initiative please visit our main page or sign up for our newsletter.
