The Marsing Coalition has been hard at work examining recent results from the 2024 Marsing Youth Well-being Survey. Major findings were shared with the Marsing Community at the November Data Walk meeting and with Marsing District Teachers and Staff in December. After taking into account community feedback, the coalition has selected 3 Goals for this year’s action plan.

1.    Increase community awareness and understanding of recent data on teens' substance use and mental health and an Upstream Prevention approach.

2.    Increase Connectedness and Reduce Stress for kids living in Marsing.

3.   Increase Connectedness and Provide support and connection for Marsing families; especially those most in need.

All three of these goals will reduce substance use and mental health concerns like depression and are based on the data collected this year.

With support from Tara Woodward at Southwest District Health, the Marsing Coalition will work together to create strategies and activities to address these areas and move prevention activities upstream. Local partners and community members will be supported by the Communities for Youth Empowerment Team in planning efforts and in ensuring activities selected for implementation are in line with the best available evidence and best practices. Organizations and individuals that would like to get more involved in this process should contact Communities for Youth Marsing Community Lead Tara Woodward (Tara.Woodward@swdh.id.gov).

Stay tuned for initiative updates and fun community events and activities!
