Free Technology Enabled Outdoor Fitness Court Coming to Marsing

Updated: Aug 14

The Marsing community is prioritizing physical activity and social connection after reviewing the results of their recent youth well-being survey. Physical activity is a critical part of anyone’s health, but especially kids and teens. For one, physical and emotional health often contribute to lower levels of depression and anxiety, and can decrease the likelihood of using alcohol and other drugs. They are also associated with improved sleep, concentration, and learning. The Marsing coalition is brainstorming and gathering implementation ideas from the community to launch a variety of physical activity and social connection resources throughout the Marsing community. Stay tuned for updates.

In the meantime, the Owyhee Health Coalition (OHC), is working hard to raise the remaining funds to bring a state-of-the-art free outdoor fitness facility to Marsing. While Owyhee County is home to miles of beautiful trails, there are few other options for strength training, especially for free! The world-class, high-tech fitness court:

  • will be available for all community members to use

  • is appropriate for all ages and abilities

  • is part of the city’s comprehensive community wellness initiative.

The OHC team’s work aligns perfectly with the Southwest Idaho Communities for Youth Marsing initiative to bring more physical activity resources to the Marsing community this year.
