The Marsing School District and Prevention Coalition hosted a “Dr. Seuss Literacy Night” family engagement night on March 13th, focused on fostering social connections and strengthening interpersonal interactions. This event promoted literacy by having fun with Dr. Seuss reading games and activities, while reinforcing the importance of supportive relationships.

Community events such as the "Dr. Seuss Literacy Night" help to reinforce the prevention coalition’s data-guided goals to provide support and connection for Marsing families, increase connectedness and reduce stress for kids living in Marsing.

By fostering a supportive and engaging environment, the event aimed to build protective factors against substance use among youth. Activities that promote literacy and social interaction can significantly contribute to reducing risk factors associated with substance use, such as social isolation and lack of positive engagement.

With support from Southwest District Health and the Partnerships for Success Grant, the Marsing prevention coalition plans to continue to have monthly events for families and the community to come together. Stay tuned for more updates on what the Marsing Prevention Coalition is up to as they work to keep making Marsing the best place for kids!
