In April, the Communities for Youth SW Idaho Initiative held an end of the school year party and Community Data walk in Marsing. The night featured a family dinner, and fun outdoor events for the students. After dinner, parents and community members attended a presentation on the importance of preventing youth alcohol, marijuana, and stimulant use and the dangers of fentanyl. After the presentation adults participated in an interactive data walk featuring data about youth well-being, including substance use and mental health data and risk and protective factors for youth substance use and mental health challenges.
This year the Marsing community is working to support youth well-being and preventing youth substance use and mental health challenges by focusing on physical activity and social connection. We look forward to more updates and these focus areas over the summer.
