Communities for Youth Teen Action Team
The Communities for Youth Teen Action Team is a way for for teens to stay informed and make a difference around youth mental health and well-being in Idaho.
There are many ways for young people to get involved including attending monthly gatherings, signing up for newsletters/text alerts about future opportunities, serving as a youth representative at community meetings, educating peers about youth mental health, and more.
Teens that attend monthly meetings and other special events as part of the Teen Action Team are eligible for community service hours.
All teens that would like to attend in person events through Teen Action Team must have parent permission.
What Kinds of Things Does the Teen Action Team Do?
Teen Action Team meetings create intentional spaces for teens to engage and connect with peers who are also interested in youth mental health. Members plan fun events and other opportunities for teens, gain presentation and leadership skills, and help adults make better decisions about how to support young people.
What to Expect at a Monthly Meeting
We generally start with a welcome that helps everyone get to know one another. Each meeting then focuses on an activity where youth input or feedback is needed. Meetings can also involve brainstorming and planning time around youth-led actions and initiatives.
Can I Get Community Service Hours for School?
We will work with young people to apply their time spent on Teen Action Team activities to community service requirements for school or other clubs.
